Submissions guidelines for Magical Child Books

Magical Child Books is an imprint of Shades of White. The focus of this imprint is Pagan children's books. We are interested in fictional stories appropriate for the young Pagan child. We publish books with contemporary children as the main character. We will consider other stories if they have a strong Pagan theme. Manuscripts should be age appropriate for picture books (ages 4y - 8y), chapter books and early readers (ages 7y - 10y) and the preteen or tween (ages 11y -13y) markets.

We do not want to see Wicca 101 books, spell books, secular myths or fairy tales, books that do not portray the various Pagan households or Traditions in a complimentary way, books that promote any kind of religious or spiritual intolerance, stories about other world religions, books for teens, books for adults or non-fiction.

We are especially interested in accurate depictions of non Wiccan Paths such as Asatru, Druidism or Reconstructionist Traditions.

We print 1 to 3 titles a year.

Send your manuscript to: Shades of White, Acquisitions Editor, 301 Tenth Avenue, Crystal City, MO 63019. NO CALLS, PLEASE.

Send art submissions to the Art Director at the above address.

For picture books, send the complete manuscript. (under 1,000 words ONLY); for chapter books and Tween fiction, send several sample chapters. Include in your package your literary resume, the projected market for your book, names and ISBNs of current market competition and how your book differs, and a SASE with sufficient postage for the return of your materials.

We will contact you ONLY if interested. Please query only via the query form on this site. DO NOT email any attachments, they are weeded out by our SPAM filter.
